Job Search Launchpad: take stock before you apply
- Emerging Architects
A short, AI-guided workbook that helps you see what you have to work with, notice what draws you in and name your next step, before you rewrite your portfolio or send another application.
£24 incl. VAT · PDF workbook · about 30–45 minutes
Who it's for
Graduates, Part 1 and Part 2 students and early-career architects who aren't sure where to start their job search. If you're about to rewrite your portfolio or send another application, the workbook helps you take stock first. It's reflection, not careers advice: you do the thinking, in your own words.
What's inside
Not sure where to start your job search? Before you rewrite your portfolio or send another application, take stock. Job Search Launchpad is a short, AI-guided workbook for emerging architects. Three copy-and-paste prompts, which work in any chat assistant, turn the assistant into a questioning partner rather than a ghostwriter: it asks about your projects, experience, interests, feedback and practical constraints, asks for real examples, and doesn't invent anything. You write your answers in the workbook, in your own words. The PDF is 15 A4 pages, to print or fill in by hand.
- Exercise 1: Take stock. Gather your academic projects, practice experience, interests, feedback and practical constraints, then use Prompt 1 to turn your notes into a plain snapshot of where you are now.
- Exercise 2: Notice the patterns. Look at which parts of the work you enjoyed, where you contributed most and what you want to do more or less of. Prompt 2 asks for evidence and helps you tell real interests from guesses about what employers want.
- Exercise 3: Name what's unclear. Turn the questions you can't answer yet into specific ones, with Prompt 3.
- My starting point. A one-page sheet that brings it together: what you have to work with, two or three directions to explore, three questions to investigate and one small next action.
What you come away with
- See what you're working with: a plain snapshot of your projects, experience, interests, feedback and constraints.
- Notice what draws you in: two or three possible directions, written as ideas to test, not decisions.
- Know your next step: three clear questions to investigate and one small action to take this week.
